This webinar is the second installment in our “Varieties” series and will feature a deeper, more technical look into WCR’s coffee variety development pipeline delivered by Director of Research and Development Dr. Tania Humphrey. WCR’s breeding program—a global, collaborative, and data-driven effort accelerating the pace of genetic gain in coffee—is poised to deliver its first cycle of 100 new varieties by 2030.
Whether you see yourself as a coffee science novice or connoisseur, this event will allow you to better understand the enormous potential behind creating new varieties. Dr. Humphrey’s talk will provide insight into the work of creating new coffee varieties, including what population improvement is and why this is important for coffee, how speed breeding works, and what kind of cutting-edge tools WCR is deploying.
