The Shade Catalog

The Shade Catalog helps farmers select shade trees that are good for coffee, support and diversify household incomes and provide benefits to wildlife and ecosystem services. The Shade Catalog gathers existing data on trees found in coffee landscapes—from the species’ main attributes, uses and benefits to propagation and management tips—and makes it freely accessible to support whole-farm planning.

It is available for the following regions: 

• Colombia (English, Spanish)
• Costa Rica (English, Spanish)
• Peru (English, Spanish)
• Indonesia (English, Bahasa)

Indonesia, Peru, Colombia, and Costa Rica are key producers and exporters of coffee, as well as important areas for global biodiversity. Understanding and conserving the biodiversity of these regions will complement national and international efforts to increase the sustainability of each country's coffee sector.
